Vaping Poses Unexpected Dangers to Teeth

Smoking electronic cigarettes can cause significant damage to the oral cavity, warned dental surgeon and periodontist Denis Moiseev in a conversation with Izvestia. He explained that propylene glycol and glycerin, common ingredients in vape aerosol, create a film on teeth and mucous membranes, which becomes a breeding ground for pathogenic bacteria that cause cavities and periodontitis.

Moiseev added that the chemical components of the aerosol, including flavorings and fine particles, cause chronic irritation of the oral mucosa. This can lead to harmful consequences, including the destruction of the tooth’s ligamentous apparatus and bone tissue. He advised anyone experiencing the first symptoms of oral or dental disease to consult a doctor immediately.
