The West Pomeranian Sanitary Inspectorate (Sanepid) has launched targeted educational campaigns to combat a rising youth nicotine crisis in Poland. This initiative comes as health data reveals that 60% of Polish teenagers have initiated tobacco use, while an estimated 3 million children are regularly exposed to dangerous secondhand smoke.
To counter this trend, where approximately 500 minors experiment with smoking daily, authorities are focusing heavily on the dangers of both e-cigarettes and passive smoking.
On June 11, Sanepid will host an educational sports event in Szczecin under the slogan “Better Running Than Vaping” to promote physical activity over nicotine addiction. Małgorzata Kapłan, spokesperson for the regional inspectorate, emphasized that educating youth on how vaping impacts daily health is critical to curbing early initiation.
